| If you suspect there is francophone blood running rampant through your family tree, then donnelly is your place to be. Here is the Donnelly Geneological Center! This is the location of the largest collection of geneological and historic francophone information in Western Canada. If you don’t know where to start to look , a friendly bilingual staff person will guide you on your family roadmap.
The Village of Donnelly began its life May 29, 1919 when french canadian settlers moved to the area from Grouard and this is where they stopped . The strength of this small community is the warmth, humour and creativity of its residents. Decorated stop signs show pride in their past and hope for the future. G.P. Vanier school (gr 7-12) passes on the knowledge for the future to the youth of Smoky river MD. Community events, celebrations, agricultural fairs, gymcanas and many other events are held in the Donnelly fairground and agriplex. Donnelly welcomes you !
